2010 CIAC Class L State High School Softball Championship – Bristol Eastern vs. Waterford

STRATFORD- The top ranked Waterford Lancers softball team scored early, and held on late, to top Bristol Eastern for the Class L Softball state championship, 3-2, at DeLuca Field in Stratford.

All three of the Lancers runs were unearned.  Bristol Eastern errors led to Waterford runs as the Lancers took an early lead.

Bristol Eastern made a huge push in the final inning.  Emily Michaud's bloop single to center scored Kristi Benvenuto.  But Rachel Beaudoin, who had singled earlier in the inning, tried to advance from first to third.  She was thrown out at third by Waterford catcher Kaylee Deer to end the game.

For Waterford, the win marks their second straight state title, and 39th straight win.  Waterford also ended the season as the top ranked team in the state.

Bristol Eastern ends the season with a record of 19-5.
