MIDDLETOWN- Montville pitcher Justin Brachas finished off his career with the Indians with a record of 16-0 as Montville topped Waterford, 6-4, to take home the Class M Baseball state championship.
Brachas, who was pitching for the fourth time in the tournament, had to sit through two separate rain delays in the game, before the Indians finally topped the Lancers. Brachas struck out four batters in the game, including the final batter, to give the state title to Montville.
The Indians offense also batted around Gatorade State Player of the Year Colin O'Keefe. O'Keefe gave up two home runs in the game, one to Kyle Holland and one to Jesse Sutherland, as Montville took an early lead, and they would not look back.
For the Indians, the win marks the second baseball state title in school history.
